What is the GYEON Q²M CeramicDetailer? An SiO₂-enriched quick detailer that tops up coatings and sealants between washes — hydrophobics, gloss and dirt resistance in one pass. Not a coating replacement, not a long-term sealant, and not meant for heavily soiled surfaces.
GYEON Q²M CeramicDetailer is an SiO₂-based quick detailer from GYEON built specifically for ceramic-coated cars. The silicon dioxide particles inside react with the existing coating and boost its water beading on the spot, in a measurable way — at the same time a temporary protective layer goes down that makes dust and dirt stick less. Unlike classic quick detailers that only polish things up optically, the CeramicDetailer lays down real, if time-limited, protection.
Detailing1's tip from the shop: The most common mistake with the CeramicDetailer: spraying on too much product at once. A single spray per body panel is enough. Lay down three or four sprays and you'll be fighting streaks afterwards — not because the product is bad, but because excess SiO₂ smears across the surface during buffing instead of soaking in. Below 5 °C we'd recommend using the product in the garage at room temperature, since cold makes it harder to spread and leaves streaks.
The two-towel method is a must with the GYEON Q²M CeramicDetailer — one soft microfibre to spread, a second to buff off. Work with just one towel and you smear loosened dirt and SiO₂ residue across the paint, creating exactly the streaks that then get wrongly blamed on the product.
On dry paint: one spray per panel straight onto the paint or onto the microfibre, spread it evenly, then buff with the dry side of the second towel. Don't work in direct sun — otherwise the product flashes off within seconds and is hard to wipe away cleanly after that.
In the shade or in the garage the job is far more relaxed. With a light dust film after 3–5 days of standing, the CeramicDetailer is all the care you need between washes — a full wash isn't necessary then. For best results use a short-pile microfibre at 300–400 GSM — long-pile towels grab too much product and cut the effect on the paint.
On wet paint right after the wash: 2–3 sprays per panel onto the wet surface, then pull it off in straight lines with a drying towel. Here the CeramicDetailer works as a drying aid — the water gets soaked straight into the towel instead of smeared, and the SiO₂ protective layer builds in the same pass. On the weekend wash this method saves you a good 10 minutes over drying separately and then sealing.
Important with both methods: give the bottle a quick shake before use. The SiO₂ particles settle at the bottom over time — spray without shaking and that first spray lays down nothing but carrier, no active. That's also why some people see less gloss on the first panel than on the last.
Under ideal conditions — garaged car, no constant wet, no winter duty — the CeramicDetailer holds up to 6 weeks. In daily life with an outdoor spot, rain and the odd car-wash run, 3–4 weeks is more realistic. That's no flaw, it's exactly what you'd expect from a quick detailer — products in this class are built for fast top-ups, not for longevity.
The instant hydrophobic reactivation is the real strength: within seconds of buffing off, water beads visibly and runs off fast, dirt sticks less, and dust pickup drops noticeably thanks to the antistatic effect. On dark paint especially that's a win, because dust shows up faster there. On glass and wheels the CeramicDetailer works too — though durability there is shorter than on paint, in our experience 2–3 weeks rather than 6.
Where the CeramicDetailer isn't the right product: on uncoated paint it does a lot less, because the SiO₂ particles find no existing coating to chemically grab onto — the effect fizzles out there after a few days. It's not built for heavy soiling like bug splatter, tar or bird droppings: wash that off with a car shampoo first, then apply the detailer. On matt or satin paint and wraps it must not be used, since SiO₂ creates unwanted gloss there.
If you need real protection with 3+ months of durability, reach for the Q²M Cure spray sealant. When fast top-ups for the next few weeks are all you're after, the CeramicDetailer is the time-saver — 2 minutes instead of 15.
Both GYEON products top up coatings, but with fundamentally different effort and a different result. Get the difference and you save money and time.
Q²M Cure is a full SiO₂ spray sealant with a higher active concentration. It builds a measurably thicker protective layer that holds 3–6 months and substantially regenerates the coating. The downside: Cure needs clean, ideally degreased paint and more care when you apply it — on slightly dirty paint on a Thursday evening, Cure is overkill. The CeramicDetailer, on the other hand, goes on in 2 minutes, forgives more mistakes and covers the weeks between Cure top-ups.
The ideal routine for coated cars looks like this: Cure every 2–3 months as base protection after a thorough wash, CeramicDetailer weekly or as needed for a quick top-up in between. That keeps the coating in top shape for good, without you putting in 30 minutes every week. The weekly CeramicDetailer pass costs you 2 minutes per car.
If you've got no coating on the paint and you're after real long-term protection, the CeramicDetailer alone is the wrong call. Here it's worth starting with a proper ceramic coating like Q² Mohs EVO or Q² Pure EVO, followed by CeramicDetailer as your maintenance product. The combo of coating and regular detailer is what GYEON designed as a closed care system. Day-to-day, that system works better than any single product, because each part covers the other's weak spots: the coating delivers the base hardness, the CeramicDetailer the ongoing freshness.
To get started we'd recommend the 500 ml bottle — it covers 10–12 full car applications and shows you within 2–3 weeks whether the CeramicDetailer fits your care routine. The 1-litre bottle pays off if you run the detailer regularly every week or look after several cars.
Not sure about GYEON Q²M CeramicDetailer Ceramic Quick Detailer? Get it explained:
The CeramicDetailer is an SiO₂-based quick detailer from GYEON, specially developed for the care of ceramic-coated vehicles. The SiO₂ particles chemically bond to existing ceramic coatings, building a temporary protective layer that refreshes hydrophobicity, gloss, and dirt repellency for 4–6 weeks.
Spray one pump per body panel onto wet or dry paint and spread with a short-pile microfiber towel in straight lines. Buff with a second dry towel. Total time per vehicle: approx. 2 minutes. Do not apply in direct sunlight or on hot paintwork.
CeramicDetailer is a quick detailer for a fast refresh in between — 2 minutes effort, 4–6 weeks durability. Q²M Cure is a full-fledged spray sealant with a higher SiO₂ concentration — 15 minutes effort, 3–6 months durability. Ideal: Cure every 2–3 months as a base, CeramicDetailer weekly in between.
Technically yes, but the effect is significantly weaker. The SiO₂ particles need an existing ceramic coating to which they can chemically bond. On uncoated paint, the effect only lasts a few days instead of 4–6 weeks. For uncoated vehicles, classic quick detailers without SiO₂ bonding are recommended.
Streaks almost always occur due to too much product. One spray per panel is enough. Also, use the two-towel method: one towel to spread, a second to buff. A single towel will smear excess SiO₂ instead of absorbing it. If there are residues, wipe with a slightly damp microfiber towel.
Per application, you need approx. 40–50 ml for a complete vehicle. The 500 ml bottle therefore lasts for 10–12 applications, the 1-liter bottle for 20–25 applications. With weekly use, the 1-liter bottle lasts about half a year — the price per liter is therefore less than €1.30 per application.
One spray per body panel is enough — whether on wet or dry paint. Distribute the product with a short-pile microfiber towel (300–400 GSM) in straight, overlapping passes. Do not work in circular motions, as this can create holograms on sensitive paintwork.
Buff with a second, dry microfiber towel. The two-towel method is mandatory with CeramicDetailer: a single towel will smear excess SiO₂ instead of absorbing it. If you use a waffle weave towel for drying, you can use CeramicDetailer directly as a drying aid — 2–3 sprays per panel on wet paint and immediately wipe off with the drying towel.
The order matters: roof first, then hood, sides, and finally the bumpers. This prevents already treated areas from being double-coated by overspray when working on higher panels. An entire vehicle can be completed in under 2 minutes.
For best results, use CeramicDetailer every 1–2 weeks after a regular wash. This keeps the ceramic coating at maximum performance level permanently and significantly extends the intervals between professional re-coatings.
Notes: Do not use in direct sunlight or on hot paint — SiO₂ bonds too quickly and leaves dull spots. Work in the shade at temperatures above 30 °C or wait until the evening. CeramicDetailer also works on glass and wheels, but the durability there is shorter (2–3 weeks instead of 4–6 weeks on coated paint). Store frost-free between 5 and 30 °C, shelf life 24 months after opening.
