What is the ZviZZer Thermo Trapez Pad Soft? A soft, trapezoidal polishing pad made of open-cell thermo foam with a hook-and-loop backing, marked yellow as the second-softest of five grades. It removes holograms and halos and builds deep gloss. Not made for heavy correction of deep scratches or weathered paint.
The ZviZZer Thermo Trapez Pad Soft is a soft polishing pad from ZviZZer for machine polishing, marked yellow in the five-step colour system. Its open-cell thermo foam keeps the cut consistent across the whole pass and holds its shape under friction heat instead of collapsing. So the yellow Soft pad removes hardly any material and refines instead: it pulls out the holograms a harder pad has left behind and builds depth and high gloss. The hook-and-loop backing sits on the matching backing plate.
Day-to-day from Detailing1: The most common mistake is the wrong pad-and-polish combo. A soft pad under a coarse compound costs you correction; a hard pad under a finishing polish puts new holograms in. The colour is the system: yellow Soft pad with the yellow Fine Cut polish. Pad hygiene matters just as much. A pad clogged with polish dust only smears and overheats the paint instead of building gloss. On a dark door, one pass did the job for us where a gummed-up pad just dragged streaks.
The Soft pad takes a pea-sized amount of finishing polish and works it in on the DA with light to medium pressure until the film turns clear and the high gloss is there.
The colour is the instruction: the yellow pad is matched to the yellow Fine Cut polish, which pulls out holograms after the cutting step. The surface needs to be prepped — washed, decontaminated and, with deep scratches, already pre-corrected with a harder pad. Work in sections of about 40 by 40 centimetres.
Keep the pad clean: after two or three sections, knock out the polish dust or swap pads. A clogged pad stops building gloss and pushes the friction heat into the paint. Use the small sizes from Ø 50 mm for mirrors and pillars, the big ones from Ø 140 mm for doors and bonnets. Below 15 degrees paint temperature, the polish works more sluggishly.
The Soft pad is built for the final step: it removes holograms, halos and fine swirls and brings depth to the paint, but it's no substitute for correcting deep scratches.
Its home turf is finishing after correction and one-step polishing on well-kept paint: where the open-cell foam can play to its consistent cut and heat stability and deliver an evenly hologram-free result. On a dark bonnet, where every polishing mark shows, the soft pad really comes into its own.
The limits are clear. If you're dealing with deep scratches or badly weathered paint, a harder pad with more cut goes under a compound first, and only then the Soft pad for the finish. If you want that last per cent of depth on very soft paint, follow the yellow pad with the green Ultra Soft pad. That way the graded system covers every depth instead of asking one pad to do it all.
The Soft pad is the right call if you want a clean, hologram-free finish after correction, or want to pull more gloss out of well-kept paint in one step without heavy cutting.
It's less suited to heavy correction on neglected paint, because it simply lacks the cut. For that, reach for the harder orange or red pad in the same Trapez system. If you regularly switch between correction and finishing, you're better off with several grades from our polishing pads than with a single do-it-all pad, because each grade does exactly one job right.
The one thing hardly anyone thinks about: a new pad soaks up more polish the first time, because the dry foam absorbs it. Prime your first set of pads with a little extra product on purpose and go easier after that — otherwise you'll wonder about dust and streaks that only come from overloading a pad that's already saturated.
Not sure about ZviZZer Thermo Trapez Pad "Soft" thermo foam pad (Yellow)? Get it explained:
Add Detailing1 as a preferred source on GoogleA soft pad like the yellow Soft pad. It removes hardly any material and takes out holograms, halos and fine swirls instead of cutting. In the ZviZZer colour system, yellow is the second-softest of five grades and is matched to the yellow Fine Cut polish. A hard pad has no place under a finishing polish.
Put a pea-sized amount of polish on the pad, spread it briefly at low speed, then work it in on the DA with light to medium pressure per 40 by 40 centimetre section until the film turns clear. It's designed for random orbital and dual-action machines. Keep the pad clean as you go.
The colour stands for the hardness and therefore the job. Ultra Hard blue and Hard red cut and correct, Medium orange is the all-rounder, Soft yellow finishes and Ultra Soft green is for sealing. With deep scratches, correct with a harder pad first, then finish with the Soft pad.
The pad has a hook-and-loop backing and fits the backing plate in the matching size, from Ø 50 to Ø 165 mm. It's made for random orbital, dual-action and rotary machines. Pick the pad diameter to suit the backing plate and the panel: big pads for doors and bonnets, small ones for tight spots.
The most common mistake is the wrong pairing: a soft pad under a compound corrects too little, a hard pad under a finishing polish puts holograms in. The second is a clogged pad that smears and overheats the paint. Knock out the polish dust regularly or swap pads.
The heat-stable thermo foam loses only minimal cut while polishing and lasts several times as many passes as a basic foam pad. After use, wash the pad out, let it air-dry and store it flat. Replace it as soon as the foam gets gummed up or the edges start to fray.
First pick the right pairing of hardness and polish. The yellow Soft pad is the finishing grade and goes with the yellow Fine Cut polish. With deep scratches, correct first with a harder pad; the Soft pad only comes in for the finish.
Press the pad centrally onto the matching backing plate and put a pea-sized amount of polish on the face. Spread it briefly at low speed, then work it in on the DA with light to medium pressure per section of about 40 by 40 centimetres until the polish film turns clear and the high gloss is there.
Keep the pad clean: knock out the polish dust after two or three sections or switch to a fresh pad. A clogged pad stops building gloss and pushes the friction heat into the paint. Use the small sizes from Ø 50 mm for mirrors, pillars and bumper edges, the big ones from Ø 140 mm for doors and bonnets.
Notes: The Soft pad removes hardly any material and is made for holograms and finishing, not for heavy correction of deep scratches or weathered paint — that calls for a harder pad under a compound. A new pad soaks up more polish the first time because the dry foam absorbs it; go easier after that. Below 15 degrees paint temperature, the polish works more sluggishly. After use, wash the pad out, let it air-dry and store it flat, dry and with no pressure on the hook-and-loop side.
